Scrap my car, Edinburgh, same-day payment, paperwork sorted

Two or three times a week, usually paired up so we can plan a clean route across the city in one trip. Same-week is realistic in nearly all cases; same-day is possible if you ring before 11am on a day we're already coming east. New Town, Leith and Portobello tend to fall into the same morning run; Morningside, Marchmont and Corstorphine into another. We'll always tell you straight when the next slot is rather than promise something we can't deliver.

No, but it shapes the timing. Most of central Edinburgh sits inside a CPZ, so we either need a permit-holder bay we can use briefly or we collect early before the bays fill. If your street is residents-only with no visitor allowance, message us first and we'll plan accordingly. The actual loading is five minutes flat once we're parked.

Yes, briefly. We need you (or someone authorised) to confirm we're taking the right car, sign the disposal slip, and hand over the keys. Total time from arrival to truck-pulls-away is usually 20-30 minutes. If you can't be there in person, ring us. We can sometimes work around it for repeat customers or pre-paid collections, but it's not the default.

Bring the V5C if you have it (we'll fill in section 9 and post the slip to the DVLA the same week). If you've lost it, photo ID with your address works. Once we notify the DVLA the car has gone for scrap, any full months of remaining road tax are refunded automatically to your bank account or the address on your tax record. Cancel your insurance only AFTER we've collected the car, don't leave a gap if collection slips a day.

Doesn't change anything for you. Our recovery truck is exempt from LEZ as a recovery vehicle, and tram-works traffic just means we plan a different morning slot. We know the city well enough to route round whichever section is currently dug up. Your car can be a 1998 diesel that hasn't moved since the LEZ came in; we'll still take it.
