We're a working salvage yard,
not a price-comparison middleman.
Central Belt Salvage is a family-run salvage and breakers yard. The same person who answers the phone is the one who comes out with the truck. That's been the deal from day one and it's why most of our work comes through word of mouth from people we collected for last year.
What we actually do
Three things, all related: we buy scrap and end-of-life cars across Glasgow and the Central Belt, recover reusable parts, and route vehicles through the proper end-of-life process. The cars we buy are not going to mystery buyers; they are handled through a documented disposal route.
What we don't do: pretend to be one company while subcontracting the actual work to another, sneak deductions onto the price at collection, or chase cheap quotes by skipping the paperwork. We explain the DVLA steps before collection so you know what happens next.
Why we set up the way we did
Most of the "we buy any scrap car" sites you'll find on Google are lead-gen companies. They take your details, sell the lead to a yard, and the yard quotes you what's left after the platform's cut. That's a perfectly fine business model, for the platform. The customer gets less, and there's an extra link in the chain when something goes sideways.
We're the yard. The number you call is the same number that quotes the price, dispatches the truck, and pays you. If the quote turns out to be wrong, that's on us, never on you. We've been doing this in and around Glasgow long enough to know that the next car we scrap depends on how this one went, so we don't play games.
Our credentials
- Disposal route: partner Authorised Treatment Facility route confirmed before collection while our own licence details are not published.
- SEPA / waste-carrier proof: added here once the owner supplies the public registration evidence.
- Insurance proof: added here once the owner supplies the current certificate.
- Specialist handling: EV, refrigerant and hazardous-item work is only accepted where the right in-house or partner capability is confirmed.
Where we work from
Our yard is at 11 Telford Road, Caol, Fort William, PH33 7JF, but most of our customer-facing work is mobile. We come to you. Free collection across Glasgow and the wider Central Belt; honest fuel quotes anywhere further afield.
We don't run a 24/7 operation, and we don't pretend to. If you book a slot, the truck arrives in that slot, not "sometime that day". That's the family-run trade-off: slightly less reach than the big chains, considerably more reliable on the specific car you've asked us to collect.
