What "free" should mean (and what cowboys do instead)

Plenty of yards advertise free collection then knock £25–£75 off at the kerb for "fuel" or "documentation", knowing the customer has already cleared the driveway and won't back out. Most Glasgow collections happen the same day if we get the call before 1pm. Saturday mornings are the busiest, so Fridays book up fast for next-day slots. Is collection really free, or is there a "subject to" catch?

Really free. No fuel charge, no admin fee, no documentation cost, no weighbridge deduction at the kerb. The number we quote is what hits your bank account. If you ever hear "subject to inspection" from a yard, walk away, it's the cover line for an inevitable deduction.

What if you turn up and can't take the car?

You owe us nothing. We don't charge a wasted-callout fee. The two scenarios where we'd refuse: the car description was wildly wrong (claimed runner, actually been gutted), or there's a safety issue we weren't told about (damaged EV battery, leaking refrigerant). Either way, no charge.

How quickly can you reach a Glasgow address?

Same-day for most G postcodes if the call is in before 1pm. West End, South Side, East End and the city centre are 20 minutes from the yard. Bearsden, Bishopbriggs, Newton Mearns and the outer G postcodes are 30 minutes. We give a slot time and we arrive in that slot.

Do you collect from tenements and back-courts?

Yes, most of our Glasgow work is tenement parking. The recovery truck handles narrow streets; for tight closes we'll need you to point us at where the car is and confirm access. If the car's in a residents'-only bay we can liaise with the factor or arrange a temporary suspension via the council.

What paperwork do I need to have ready?

Ideally the V5C (logbook) and your ID. If you've lost the V5C, your driving licence and a recent utility bill at the same address as where the car has been is usually enough. We handle the DVLA Section 9 step on your behalf. No paperwork is no problem as long as we can confirm you're the rightful owner.
