// Scrap a van

Scrap my van, Glasgow and the Central Belt

Vans are usually worth more than a car of the same age, more metal, stronger parts demand. We buy end-of-life and MOT-failed vans across the Central Belt, collect for free, and pay same-day by bank transfer.

Why vans pay better than cars

Two reasons. First, weight: a panel van carries a lot more steel than a hatchback, and scrap is priced by the tonne. Second, parts: van drivetrains, engines, gearboxes, turbos, DPFs, get pulled and resold because there are working vans out there that need them. So an end-of-life Transit or Vivaro tends to land in the £300–£900 range, sometimes more, where a comparable car might be £150–£300.

Getting paid and the paperwork

Same as a car: a firm quote first, same-day bank transfer on collection, and a Certificate of Destruction so the van is legally off your name. We handle the DVLA side. If the logbook or keys are missing, we can still take it. New to the process? The step-by-step guide covers it all.

Scrap my van, common questions

How much is a scrap van worth?

More than a car of the same age, usually, because vans are heavier and the drivetrains have stronger second-hand demand. A tidy Transit, Vivaro or Sprinter at end-of-life typically sits in the £300–£900 band, sometimes higher if the engine, gearbox or DPF are worth pulling for parts. Send the reg and a couple of photos and we'll quote against the actual van rather than a generic figure.

Do you scrap commercial and ex-fleet vans?

Yes, that's a big chunk of our work. Ex-courier Combos and Caddys, builders' Transits, refrigerated panel vans, Luton box vans, and end-of-lease fleet vehicles all come through. If you've got more than a couple to clear we can collect them in one run and hand back consolidated paperwork, see our commercial dismantling page.

My van failed its MOT on welding, is it worth fixing or scrapping?

Welding a rotten Transit sill or chassis outrigger often costs more than the van is worth once it's at that age, so scrapping and putting the money toward the next one is frequently the sensible call. We'll tell you straight: send the MOT failure sheet and the reg, and we'll give you the scrap figure so you can weigh it against the repair quote.

Can you collect a van that won't start or is off the road?

Yes. It doesn't need to run, have an MOT, or even have a working battery. We winch it onto the truck. As long as the wheels roll and the steering unlocks we'll get it loaded, off a yard, a driveway, a depot or the side of the road. SORN'd vans are fine too.

Do I get paid the same day for a van?

Yes, by bank transfer on collection, same as a car. We send the payment from the kerb so you can check it's landed before we drive off. Cash for scrap has been illegal across the UK since 2013, so anyone offering you notes for a van is best avoided.

What paperwork do I need to scrap a van?

Ideally the V5C and your ID. If the V5C is missing we can still scrap it on a driving licence plus proof of address. For company-owned vans we'll need a quick authorisation from the business. Either way we handle the DVLA notification and you get a Certificate of Destruction confirming it's legally scrapped.
