Damaged, written-off and electric cars are a different valuation to a straight scrap, and usually worth more. A Cat S or Cat N write-off still has repairable and parts value, so it commands a premium over scrap, often a good deal more if the airbags are unfired or the drivetrain's clean. An end-of-life EV is valued on its battery and motor, which is why a tired Leaf or Zoe can be worth far more than its weight in steel.
