Terms & conditions
The rules covering quotes, collection, payment and ownership transfer.
1. Who you're contracting with
Central Belt Salvage, trading as Central Belt Salvage, registered in Scotland. Yard at 11 Telford Road, Caol, Fort William, PH33 7JF.
2. Quotes
- Quotes are valid for 7 days from issue.
- Quotes are firm provided the vehicle on collection matches the description and photos you provided.
- If the vehicle is materially different (e.g. described as "running" but turns out to have been stationary for years with seized brakes), we may revise the quote on the day. We'll show you the issue and explain. You can decline collection at no charge.
3. Collection
- You confirm you are the registered keeper or have written authorisation from the keeper.
- You confirm the vehicle is not under finance, hire purchase or any third-party charge.
- You confirm the vehicle is not stolen or subject to any legal hold.
- Collection is free across our standard area; honest fuel charge for outliers, quoted before we set off.
4. Payment
- Bank transfer is the standard payment route unless another legal payment method is agreed before collection.
- BACS usually lands the same hour, latest end of working day.
- We never pay by cheque.
- Payment is contingent on you signing the disposal slip and (where applicable) handing over the V5C.
5. Ownership transfer
- Ownership transfers to us on collection + payment.
- We explain the DVLA/V5C steps before collection.
- Any disposal paperwork follows the authorised route agreed before collection.
- Cancel your insurance only AFTER we've collected, not before.
6. Liability
- Insurance proof is supplied once the owner provides the current certificate.
- We're not liable for items left in the vehicle. Empty it before collection.
- Any damage caused by us during collection (e.g. driveway scratch from the recovery truck), tell us at the time and we'll sort it. Not after the fact.
7. Cancellation
- You can cancel any time before collection at no charge.
- If we've already dispatched the truck and you cancel within 30 minutes of arrival, we may bill a £30 fuel contribution.
8. Disputes
These terms are governed by Scots law. Any dispute is heard in the Scottish courts. We're members of no formal trade body but happy to engage with any reasonable third-party mediation.
