Scrapping a car the right way

When a car's past its next repair, MOT-failed, or just not worth fixing, scrapping is usually the cleanest exit, as long as it goes through an Authorised Treatment Facility. That's the bit people get wrong: sell to the wrong operator and the DVLA record can stay open, so the tax reminders, insurance letters and parking PCNs keep landing after the car's gone. Through the proper route the car is depolluted, you get a Certificate of Destruction, and the DVLA closes your record automatically.

We collect free across the Central Belt, pay the same day by bank transfer, and sort the paperwork. The car doesn't need to start, have an MOT, or even have keys. On the day there's very little for you to do. Have whatever paperwork you've got to hand, the V5C if you can find it, and clear the personal bits out of the car, the loose change, the phone charger, the kids' seats. We check the reg against the car, load it, and send the money before we leave; the whole stop usually takes ten minutes. The DVLA notification and your Certificate of Destruction we handle afterwards, so there's nothing for you to chase once the car has gone.
